How to measure AI visibility
AI visibility resists a single tidy number. Here is a more honest way to measure whether your business is becoming easier to find, trust, and reference.
How will we measure this. It is one of the first questions businesses ask about AI visibility, and rightly so. The honest answer is that it cannot be captured in one tidy number the way a keyword ranking can. But it can absolutely be measured. Here is how we think about it.
Presence. Are you showing up
We test how AI platforms respond to the questions your customers would actually ask, and observe whether your business appears among the options they reference. Tracked over time, this shows whether your presence is improving.
Accuracy. Are you represented correctly
Appearing is not enough. You want to be described accurately. We look at whether AI systems get your offering, positioning, and details right, and where they do not, we work on the underlying information that shapes those descriptions.
Signals. Are the foundations getting stronger
Because AI behaviour is variable, we also measure the inputs we can influence directly:
- Structured information that helps machines understand your business
- Consistency of your details across the sources AI systems read
- Credible mentions and references to your business
- Content coverage of the questions your customers ask
Why we avoid a single vanity score
A single AI visibility score can look reassuring while hiding a lot. We would rather report on presence, accuracy, and the strength of your underlying signals. A truer picture of whether your business is genuinely becoming easier to discover, trust, and choose.
